The definition of a derivative is different between the CC licenses and CS and CR licenses.

CC Licenses

You can read what is a derivative here.

CS and CR licenses

Are considered as derivatives :
- when you remix the work

- when you distribute a part of the work
- when you transform the work
- when you adapt a work in a dramatic work

Aren't considered as derivatives :
- PV on a music. You use it but if you don't modify it, it's not considered as a derivative.
- if the work isn't modified but you use it in another work.
- works which are like other works but aren't the result of their modification and are built in independant projects (used for CC).

However when you use a work you must ALWAYS credit it correctly and apply (if needed) a NC/SA/NR/NA notion.
